Civic Minded is a new organization (LLC) that has been established with a goal of improving transparency in legislative policy in the United States. We are currently in the process of setting up/shifting to a Not-for-Profit to allow more potential for expansion.  The organization is seeking a team of Humans-in-the-Loop to work hand-in-hand with the founder and developer to help train our AI summarizer on accessible and accurate legislative summaries.  This initial phase is critical to us launching the summaries with confidence in the model and our commitment to accessibility, non bias, and accuracy. 

Key Responsibilities

• Sign up
• Civic Minded will send out an automated form linked to a specific piece of legislation
• Read through the legislation and the AI generated summaries (one will be 2-3 points, the second will be 5-6 points)
• Respond to questions in the form related to: accessibility of the summary language (is it simple to read?), accuracy of the summary (do the summary points really highlight the main items in the legislation?), Bias of summary (does the summary show bias, that is not shown in the legislation?).
• The form may shift or adapt as we are all learning and evolving together. 

Communication/Coordination

• This role will be relatively independent, at your own pace and summary forms will be sent automatically

Role Details 

• This initial surge phase is anticipated to last 2-6 weeks, before we hopefully have the model pretty well on track, and we can shift to a more nuanced set of HitL feedback (oooh, the suspense— riiight?)
• Feedback forms will be sent to you, and once you finish one (some may take longer than others due to length and complexity of base legislation), another will be sent
• We do appreciate that this is a volunteer role, but we are asking that volunteers try to provide feedback on at least 3-4 summaries per week to help us get the most rounded feedback as quickly as possible to integrate into the platform
